“You Sam?” the Doctor asked, trying his best to seem like he belonged here. Like he wasn’t painfully out of place, looking for the boy he so desperately wanted - needed - to save. He promised Amy and Dean he could do it. So, he was going to do it.
“Uh, yeah. I’m Sam. Who are you?” What else was Sam supposed to say to this strange man who knows him, even though he’s sure they’ve never met… and he can’t be a friend of John’s. “You a friend of my dad’s?”
“Hm, more of a friend of your brother, Dean. Dean’s your brother, right? Right.”
“How do you know me?”
“Oh, Samuel. Sam, Sammy. Can I just call you Sam? Okay, Sam, I know your ‘family business.’ I need you help. Well, more I want to help you, if that’s alright.”
“Whatever you need help with, you could just go to my dad. How’d ya know about it anyway, I mean, what we do? Or do you really know?” Sam was sure this guy was playing him, maybe he was trying to weasel his way into getting information, or maybe he thought his family was really a bunch of mechanics. He didn’t really know, but he really didn’t want to stick around talking to this guy either. “I mean, there are a lot of, uh, mechanics in this town. I’m sure.”
“No. No, Sam. I know. About hunting, and monsters, and demons, and everything. I know all of it. I know about your mom. I know why your dad raised you into this. Sam, I know you have no reason to believe me, but please, please do. Come with me, c’mon.” He said as he spun on his heels and made a wave gesture behind his back. “C’mon! Now, or never.”
“Then never. I don’t want to talk about my family. I don’t want to talk about any of it and I don’t want to go with you. You may as well leave.”
“Sam… please.”
“Give me one reason why I’d leave school with a guy I’ve never met, saying he knows stuff about my family?”
“That’s just it, I do know stuff. I can help you, let me help you.”
“Why me?”
“You’re special Sam. So, so special. There is so much that lies in your hands and you just don’t see it yet. I just want to keep you safe.”
“The only person that can keep me safe is Dean.”
“And he’s the one who told me to come here, now.”
“Well, f-fine I guess.” Sam looked around and followed the Doctor down a hall, to the TARDIS. Some phone box, something like Sam had never seen before.
